A new pricing strategy from Manx Utilities proposes inflation only increases for water, sewage and electricity prices for domestic customers over the next five years.
Manx Utilities has announced that the hosepipe ban put into place on 3 August is to be lifted with effect from Monday 24 September 2018.
Manx Utilities has confirmed that it intends to continue with the hosepipe ban and is thanking Island residents and businesses for ‘using water wisely’ initiatives; which have seen a 10% reduction in demand from the water treatment works.
Water from the National Sports Centre swimming pools is being made available this week to help preserve dwindling stocks in the Island’s reservoirs.
Manx Utilities has been monitoring reservoir water levels closely and working with the Met Office on future rainfall predictions due to the prolonged period of mostly dry and often hot weather.
On 15 May 2018 Tynwald debated the best way forward following publication of an Environment and Infrastructure Policy Review Committee report for Peel, St Johns and the central valley, and the Independent Review of the regional sewage treatment strategy for all of the areas being considered for sewage treatment in phase 2 of the regional sewage treatment strategy (RSTS2).
