Will emissions be produced during the manufacturing and construction process?
As part of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process, we will be undertaking a Climate Impact Assessment which includes consideration for the carbon balance of the development from manufacturing, to construction, to commissioning. A typical onshore windfarm in the UK will payback its manufacturing emissions against fossil fuel generation in the first 6 – 8 months of development. However, the Isle of Man currently has a higher carbon intensity per kilowatt-hour than the UK – payback here could therefore be slightly quicker.
