Cair Vie Onshore Windfarm Project

The Cair Vie Windfarm Project is an exciting new initiative designed to harness our Island’s natural renewable resources.

Following extensive surveys and two Island-wide assessments, Earystane was chosen as the most suitable site for further consideration for the delivery of the Island's first windfarm. The Isle of Man is known to have some of the highest average wind speeds in Europe. Located in the South West, Earystane can host up to four turbines, which could generate more than a quarter of the Island's electricity needs.

The proposed development would be publicly-owned, operated by Manx Utilities and contribute to the Island's low carbon energy plans.
