The Commercial Plus Tariff is a two‑rate tariff designed for commercial properties that use electric heating systems such as air source heat pumps, ground source heat pumps, or storage heaters.
With this tariff, your property will benefit from 8 hours of discounted electricity every day, helping to reduce heating costs.

To qualify, the property must have a minimum electric heating load of 6 kW.

Who is it for?

This tariff is available to commercial customers who use air source heat pumps, ground source heat pumps, or storage heaters as part of their electric heating system.

To qualify, your agreed supply capacity must be:

• Up to 15 kVA for single‑phase supplies, or
• Up to 50 kVA for three‑phase supplies

Who is it for?

This tariff is suitable for commercial customers who consistently use at least 30% of their total daily electricity consumption during off‑peak hours.

What is the High Load Factor Tariff?

The High Load Factor Tariff is a single low‑rate electricity tariff designed for industrial customers with consistently high and steady energy usage. It rewards sites that maintain a relatively flat demand profile, which supports efficient operation across the electricity network.

Who is it for?

This tariff is available to industrial customers who:

• Use more than 1 million kWh per year, and
• Maintain a load factor of at least 70% over a continuous 12‑month period.

To remain eligible, customers must demonstrate a sustained load factor above 70% based on the maximum kW recorded over the year.

If annual consumption falls below 1 million kWh or the load factor drops under 70% during any 12‑month period, the tariff will be withdrawn and replaced with a more suitable alternative.

To remain eligible, customers must continue to meet the annual usage requirement. If consumption drops below 1 million kWh in any 12‑month period, the tariff will be withdrawn and replaced with a more suitable alternative.

What is the Public Lighting Tariff?

The Public Lighting Tariff is designed for unmetered lighting supplies, such as streetlights and traffic control equipment. Because these supplies are not metered, the responsible authority must provide regular updates on any changes to their installations—such as the location, type, rating, and operating hours of the equipment. This information must be submitted to the MUA every month to ensure accurate billing.

Who is it for?

This tariff is available to:

• Local authorities for public street lighting
• Highway authorities for traffic signals and control equipment
• Telecommunications providers where telephone kiosks require a lighting supply

Any supply registered on the Public Lighting Tariff must comply with the UK Electricity (Unmetered) Supply Regulations (SI 2001/3263). In general, these regulations apply where the electrical load is predictable and either:

• Less than or equal to 500 W, or
• It is impractical to install a meter for technical, financial, or legal reasons.

What is the Commercial Sustainable Generation?

The Commercial Sustainable Generation Tariff is an add‑on to your existing electricity tariff that allows you to sell the renewable electricity you generate back to us at a fixed rate.

This tariff supports renewable installations with a maximum export capacity up to 50 kW.
Please note: this export capacity is subject to network studies and may be reduced if the installation could have a negative impact on the electricity network.

All renewable generation systems must meet the relevant ENA EREC G98, G99 or G100 Engineering Standards.

Who is it for?

This tariff is available to customers who install renewable generation equipment, such as:

• Solar PV panels
• Wind turbines
• Hydro generators
• Or a combination of these technologies

Because Isle of Man legislation differs from UK legislation, you must not connect any generation equipment to the Manx Utilities network until you have received written approval from us.

What is the Guaranteed Green Tariff?

The Guaranteed Green Tariff is an uplift to other tariffs that ensures electricity supplied to your premises is matched to renewable energy.

We will ensure that sufficient zero carbon electricity is sourced to meet your electricity supply requirements for the year (commencing 1 April annually). Securing of zero carbon electricity may be from Manx Utilities’ own generating stations or purchased from third-party generators, including importing of zero carbon electricity.

We will undertake an annual assurance process and publish a report annually on our website setting out the additional zero carbon electricity secured to meet Guaranteed Green Tariff customers’ electricity demand. The report will be certified by an external auditor.

Who is it for? 

It is available to commercial and industrial customers. You must commit to a minimum 12-month duration for the green tariff and a 12-month notice period is required should you wish to cease using the tariff.

Existing ‘Green Tariff’ customers are permitted to switch to the Guaranteed Green Tariff and will need to apply in the same way.
